The Long Term Benefits of Exercising
There is a famous quote saying “live longer and feel younger.” The secret to longer living comes from having a fit and healthy life. The biggest secret to attain fitness is to practice regular exercising. A study shows that people who are physically fit live a longer life as compared to those who are not. Few of the major benefits of exercising are enhanced sleep, prevent weight gain, and reduces the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and even depression. Regular exercising also helps to reduce the risk of heart failure, improves quality of life, reduces hospitalization, and in some cases it even reduces the risk of death.
There are few guidelines which you must remember while doing physical activities which will lead to long term health benefits:
- You must practice regular exercise for at least 2 hours and 30 minutes in each week. This time should be equally divided into 6 days of the week.
- Avoid periods of inactivity, you must try to keep yourself occupied rather than sitting idle and wasting your time.
- You must practice supplement aerobic exercises with weight bearing activities for at least twice which in turns strengthen all the major muscle groups.
Set realistic goals and take small steps to fit more movement into your daily life, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator and walking to the grocery store instead of driving. To help you stick with your new exercise habit, vary your routine, like swimming one day and walking the next.
