Why Running Relieves Brain Stress

Exercise is good for the body. Even if you are thin, you will not be in good shape if you don’t exercise daily. If you are overweight, there’s no better way to lose weight than running. It can help you burn as many as 100 calories each mile and lower blood pressure.

Running makes the arteries contract and expand as much as three times more than a person who only sits on the couch. Aside from the physical benefits of running, there are also some psychological benefits from the cardio exercise.

Stress can be long-term and acute. The latter comes on fast and doesn’t last for a long time. Several factors that can trigger acute stress include bumping into people you don’t want to see or an auto accident. Long-term stress is worse. The heart will have a harder time pumping blood and the immune system becomes weaker. Chronic stress can lead to arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease.

The best way to combat stress is through running. Running provides you some time to be alone and think. You can also use the time to assess issues that contribute to your stress. Running regularly makes a person happier and enjoys a stress-free life. Aside from being in better shape, running makes the body release endorphins or what are known as feel-good hormones. They help the body control pain, slow down the aging process, and get rid of stress and anxiety.

There’s no need to spend a lot of money to get treatment for stress. All you need to do is lace up your sneakers and hit the road. Running regularly will boost your mood and reduce the ill effects of stress on your body. Running also increases your body temperature that will help calm the body.
